All part of a normal childhood when i was a child, apart from fire. we used to play in the fields, climb trees, make tents and dens, play in the garden with the hammer a piece of wood and a few nails. seems children these days have no freedom to actually be children and play. and why aren't parents teaching their children these things?

I must be the very few Jane Hamilton outside most afternoons with my boy. He climbs trees, builds, plays animals, feeds animals, plays in dirt, the list goes on. He's 12 years. We have very little screen play. He loves the outdoors. I've taught him these things,

We taught our children escape plans if our home caught on fire. We taught our children how to make a fire, and what would sustain them in case of an emergency. How to use a knife to gather debris for starting a fire. And if worse came to worse how to catch wild small game. It seemed maybe odd back then, but in the world we live in today, I think it's very important. The TV series Falling Sky and the Last Ship had a message. Teach your children survival skills, very important!
